Materials:
300 g colour 100, off white

CIRCULAR NEEDLE (60 or 80 cm) SIZE 3.5 mm – or size needed to get 23 stitches and 30 rows in stocking stitch = width 10 cm and 10 cm vertically. 1 repetition of pattern according to diagram A.2 measures approx. 4½ cm in width and 4½ cm vertically.

1 ridge = knit 2 rows.
INCREASE TIP:
Increase 1 stitch at the end of every purl section (after last purl stitch) by picking up loop between 2 stitches in transition between knit and purl. Purl loop twisted to avoid holes. On next increase, increase after every knit stitch and purl loop twisted

BLANKET:
Cast on 287 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with Alpaca. Purl 1 row from wrong side. On next row from right side work rib as follows: 3 stitches in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above - * knit 1, purl 3 *, repeat from *-* until 4 stitches remain on needle, finish with knit 1 and 3 stitches in garter stitch.
When piece measures 2 cm, decrease all 3 purl (seen from right side) to 2 purl = 217 stitches.
When piece measures 3 cm, decrease every other 2 purl to 1 purl = 182 stitches.
When piece measures 4 cm, decrease the remaining 2 purl to 1 purl = 147 stitches.
When rib measures 6 cm - adjust so that next row is worked from wrong side, switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm.
Work next row as follows from right side: 3 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 over the next 140 stitches (= 14 repetitions of 10 stitches), 1 stitch in stocking stitch and finish with 3 stitches in garter stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, repeat A.2 over A.1. When piece measures 75 cm (= 6 cm rib, 1 repetition of A.1 and approx. 14 repetitions of A.2 vertically), work A.1 over A.2. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, insert 1 marker in piece. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Switch to circular needle size 3 mm.
On next row from right side work rib as follows: 3 stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* until 4 stitches remain on needle, finish with knit 1 and 3 stitches in garter stitch.
When piece measures 2 cm, increase every other 1 purl to 2 purl - READ INCREASE TIP = 182 stitches.
When piece measures 3 cm, increase the remaining 1 purl to 2 purl = 217 stitches.
When piece measures 4 cm, increase all 2 purl to 3 purl = 287 stitches.
When piece measures 6 cm, purl 1 row from wrong side. Cast off. Piece measures approx. 87 cm in total

Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures approx. 85 cm (= approx. 22 repetitions of pattern vertically), work 5 ridges in garter stitch. Cast off.

23 stitches in width and 30 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
NEEDLES:
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3.5 MM.
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3.5 MM: length 40 cm, 60 cm and 80 cm.
The needle size is only a guide. If you have too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

BLANKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles / circular needle from the middle outwards in a square. Change to a longer circular needle when necessary.
BLANKET:
Cast on 8 stitches with double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and BabyMerino. Divide the stitches so that there are 2 stitches on each needle. Knit 1 round. The next round is worked as follows: Work * A.1 (= 1 stitch), knit 1 (= corner stitch – to be able to see the corner stitch more easily, you can insert a marker thread in this stitch) *, work from *-* a total of 4 times. Continue with A.1 and 1 knitted corner stitch between each repeat of A.1. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When A.1 has been completed there are 39 stitches between each corner stitch and a total of 160 stitches on the needle.
The next round is worked as follows: * Work A.2 (= 9 stitches), A.3 (= 18 stitches), A.4 (= 12 stitches) and knit the corner stitch *, work from *-* a total of 4 times. Continue working A.2 to A.4 like this. When A.2 - A.4 have been worked 1 time in height there are 232 stitches on the row (57 stitches between each corner stitch).
Continue to repeat A.2, A.3 and A.4 in height. For each repetition in height, you will work one more A.3 between A.2 and A.4.
Work diagrams A.2 to A.4. a total of 9 times in height (or to desired length) = 808 stitches on the needle (201 stitches between each corner stitch).
The next round is worked as follows: * Work A.5 (= 9 stitches), A.6 until there are 12 stitches left before the corner stitch (i.e. work 10 repeats of 18 stitches, if A.2 to A.4 were worked 9 times in height), work A.7 (= 12 stitches) and knit the corner stitch * work from *-* a total of 4 times. When A.5 to A.7 have been completed there are 920 stitches on the needle (229 stitches between each corner stitch) and the piece measures approx. 100 cm between each corner stitch.
CASTING OFF:
Cast off, but to avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can make 1 yarn over after each yarn over from the previous round at the same time as you cast off. The yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches.
Tack a strand up and down around the hole in the middle of the blanket (by the cast-on edge). Tighten the strand so that the hole is closed and then fasten well.

Work 3 edge stitches in garter stitch, work pattern according to A.1 until 4 stitches remain (= 9-14 repetitions of 14 stitches), knit 1 stitch and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitch.
Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 97-147 stitches on needle and piece measures approx. 10 cm.
Work next row as follows from right side: Work 3 edge stitches in garter stitch, work pattern according to diagram A.2 until 4 stitches remain (= 9-14 repetitions of 10 stitches), work A.3 over next stitch and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this. When piece measures 49-79 cm, work 3 ridges over all stitches. Cast off by knitting. Make sure to avoid a tight cast-off edge, cast off with 1 larger needle size if needed.

Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Fasten off when piece measures approx. 81 cm (= approx. 9 repetitions of pattern vertically).
